of your staccato indulgence
your contrived tributes
to my hairdo or dress
your prosaic musings
about television unrealities
and pills that will neither
make you thinner nor less vapid
your affected enthusiasm
as you issue a hollow invitation to dine
that we both presuppose I will decline.
